Part 4 – The Biggest Fallacy About Starting a Business

Ah, the good old Midwestern work ethic. Put your head down and get the job done! Like most things in life, moderation is necessary to strike a good balance. Work ethic in balance with applied knowledge is even more powerful than getting the work done through sheer determination – no matter what the obstacle.

1. “We’ve got it all figured out”
2. “It will cost too much”
3. “Don’t call us we’ll call you”

It is not just a midwest thing. People, especially entrepreneurs, all over the world take a great deal of pride in working through a problem on their own. But at what cost? How much time and energy are burned doing it “my way” and doing it the “hard way”? There is always a cost to learning and what is curious is how willing people are to spend their most precious resources to do it themselves and learn through the ‘school of hard knocks’. Time and energy are limited for everybody whether they have $100 or $100,000 in their bank account.

Why not learn to work smart? Ask others who have the experience and the training to coach you through the difficulties. It will cost a lot less in time, energy, and money. You just need to put your ego in the back seat right next to fear and ask for help. Asking for help does not mean you are giving up control. In fact, the best way to work with a coach is to work together to sew what is being taught into the fabric of your business. The coach cannot and should not do that for you. By implementing what you are taught your fingerprints cannot help but be all over it. With a coach, you will be in control, but you will not be by yourself.

The help is here – just ask!
